Is Android Enterprise supported on XR headsets?

Android Enterprise support is coming to Android XR devices, though availability is currently limited.

Current status

#

The Samsung Galaxy XR, the first major Android XR headset, launched in late 2025 built on the Android XR platform. At launch, Android Enterprise device management features were not available. Google has confirmed these will be activated through a future software update.

Samsung Knox management is available for the Galaxy XR, meaning some enterprise management capabilities (remote setup, encryption, monitoring) can be used through Knox-compatible EMMs. Full Android Enterprise API support - including work profiles, managed Google Play, and AMAPI policy enforcement - is pending.

What about other XR devices?

#

Other manufacturers including Lenovo are developing Android XR devices for enterprise use. These are expected to support Android Enterprise management once the platform features are activated.

What should I plan for?

#

If your organisation is evaluating XR headsets for enterprise deployment:

  • Confirm Android Enterprise support status with the vendor before purchasing at scale
  • Knox management may bridge the gap for Samsung XR devices until full Android Enterprise support arrives
  • Expect the management experience to be broadly similar to phones and tablets once Android Enterprise is enabled, though XR-specific policies may develop over time
