NinjaOne MDM Android Enterprise DPC identifier provisioning

NinjaOne supports Android Enterprise DPC identifier provisioning, letting you enrol a device by typing afw#setup in the Google Account screen. Use this when a camera is unavailable or blocked, and/or zero-touch is unavailable.

Note: DPC identifier provisioning does not support provisioning options sudh as enabling system apps. It is the least-configurable provisioning option.

Prerequisites

#
  • Android device is factory reset and connected to reliable Wi‑Fi or mobile data during setup.
  • Admin access to NinjaOne MDM with permission to create enrolment tokens.
  • An Android “Enrollment” profile is available (added in NinjaOne v11).
  • A token validity period that covers the enrolment window (set in the Add device flow).

Generate the enrolment token in NinjaOne

#
  1. In NinjaOne, choose Add device and select the Android Enrollment profile.

  2. Copy the long alphanumeric token shown beneath the QR code. This is what will be typed on the device.

Enrol the Android device with afw#setup

#
  1. Power on the factory-reset device and proceed through the initial screens until the Google account sign-in prompt.

  2. At the Google account field, type afw#setup to launch Android Enterprise device enrolment.

  3. If prompted for camera permissions, choose Deny (not required for manual entry).

  4. When the token prompt appears, type the token from NinjaOne. If a camera preview shows depsite the permissions denial, there's a toggle at the bottom of the screen to enter the token manually.

  5. Continue through the standard NinjaOne enrolment wizard until completion.

Post-enrolment checks

#
  • Confirm the device appears in NinjaOne under the expected org/policy.
  • Verify required apps and configurations start deploying.

Troubleshooting tips

#
  • afw#setup must be entered on a factory-reset device with internet access; if it fails, restart setup and confirm connectivity.
  • If the token is rejected or expired, generate a new one from Add device and re-enter it.
  • If the camera viewfinder persists, look for the manual code entry toggle at the bottom of the screen.
